Our Vision and Inclusive Approach

At High Ash School, Design and Technology is a dynamic, practical subject that prepares every child for the future by inspiring them to become creative, curious, and resilient problem solvers. We foster an inclusive learning environment where all pupils, regardless of starting point or individual needs, are supported to access every aspect of the curriculum. Through adapted tools, tailored scaffolding, and flexible tasks, we ensure every child develops essential life skills, resourcefulness, and creative confidence.

High Ash designers begin their journey in the Foundation Stage and progressively expand their knowledge throughout their primary years. Utilising the National Curriculum alongside Kapow Primary, our learning sequence covers six core technical areas: Cooking & Nutrition, Textiles, Structures, Electrical Systems, Mechanical Systems, and Digital World. By connecting with subjects like science, mathematics, art, and computing, children learn to apply their knowledge in real-world contexts while developing the technical vocabulary needed to communicate their ideas clearly.
