Design & Technology
At High Ash School, we believe Design and Technology prepares children for the future by encouraging them to be creative, curious and resilient problem solvers. Through hands-on projects in areas such as textiles, mechanisms, structures and food technology, pupils design and make purposeful products while developing imagination, teamwork and critical thinking. They also learn from past and present innovations, understanding how design impacts daily life and the wider world. By linking with subjects like science, maths, art and computing, our D&T curriculum helps children build essential skills and confidence to become capable, resourceful and innovative individuals.
High Ash designers begin in Foundation and develop their knowledge and skills throughout their years at High Ash. We use the National Curriculum and Kapow to design a curriculum for our children that is progressive, creative, and engaging. Each year builds on prior learning, enabling children to develop confidence in a wide range of design techniques and processes.
