Humanities

We teach History and Geography through termly Topics and we have carefully planned these based on what we want the children to learn and when. We then ensure we are widening their knowledge through our Innovate stage and Themed Weeks.

The children are provided with opportunities to make connections with other elements of the curriculum. For example, we link Geography with Science when looking at healthy eating and where food comes from and then also look at the wider social and global implications of world hunger and FairTrade.

In History, we have recently looked at the concepts of empire and significance so that children can really embed the knowledge gained and see how their learning adds to one interconnected map of knowledge.

In Science and in PHSE/RE and in our Reflections, we are looking at the environment and how we can act to protect the planet, both within year groups and as whole school themes.

Please see below our History and Geography milestones which have been produced by our Key Stage Leaders.

The attached document also shows how our History topics and knowledge build over time.
