At High Ash Primary School, inclusive teaching means ensuring every child can participate, belong, learn and succeed.

We recognise that children have different strengths, needs and starting points. Some pupils will require additional or adapted support to access learning successfully. Our role is to identify and remove barriers while maintaining high expectations for all.

Inclusive teaching matters because every child should experience learning that is engaging, enriching and joyful. Successful inclusion supports not only academic achievement, but also children’s confidence, independence, wellbeing and sense of belonging.

Improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and additional needs, alongside disadvantaged pupils, is a national and a school priority.  At High Ash, inclusion is therefore ‘everyone’s responsibility and an essential part of high-quality teaching’.

This requires us to think carefully about the pupils who find learning hardest, adapt teaching in response to needs, work closely with families and professionals, and continually develop our collective expertise.

Our ambition is for every child to belong, participate meaningfully and experience success. By getting inclusion right for those who need us most, we improve teaching and learning for everyone.
