At High Ash School, art is a valued part of the curriculum, encouraging children to explore their creativity, imagination, and self-expression. Pupils are introduced to a wide range of artistic techniques, materials, and styles, helping them develop key skills in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed media.

There is clear evidence of progression in art, supported by success criteria that help children reflect on and improve their work. Teachers provide 1:1 modelling when needed, and additional support is given  to ensure every child can take part and achieve success.

Through studying the work of artists from different cultures and periods, children gain inspiration and learn to appreciate the role of art in society. Lessons are designed to nurture confidence, individuality, and resilience, while providing opportunities for pupils to experiment and take creative risks.
